We collect information you provide directly when you create an account, make a booking, or contact us. This includes personal information such as your name, email address, and phone number. We also collect booking history to enable you to track past appointments, approximate location data to surface nearby salons, and standard device information including browser type, IP address, and operating system to improve platform performance and security.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to process and confirm bookings, send appointment confirmations and reminders via email and SMS, continuously improve the platform experience, and personalise salon and service recommendations based on your booking history and preferences. We may also use aggregated, anonymised data for internal analytics and product development. We will not use your data for purposes incompatible with those listed here without your prior consent.
3. Data Sharing
We share your data only as necessary to deliver the service:
- Salon partners receive booking details (name, contact, appointment info) required to fulfil your booking.
- Payment processors (Stripe) receive payment card information to process transactions securely.
- Analytics providers receive anonymised usage data to help us understand platform performance.
We never sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Cookies
We use cookies to operate and improve RatedStylist. Essential cookies are always active and required for core functionality such as authentication and session management. 6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for 3 years from the date of your last activity on the platform. After this period, your data is automatically deleted or anonymised unless we are legally required to retain it. You may request early deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting our privacy team. Some booking records may be retained for a limited period for legal and financial compliance purposes.
7. Security
We take data security seriously. All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and in transit via HTTPS/TLS. We conduct regular security audits and penetration testing. RatedStylist is working towards SOC 2 Type II compliance. Access to personal data is restricted on a need-to-know basis and all staff handling data undergo mandatory privacy training.
